1996: World Championship

Challenge Match

With the increasing international interest, and technological improvements allowing games to be played over the internet, the World was divided into 3 zones for the preliminary regional qualifier tournaments. The top 2 players from each zone then made it through to the Candidate's Tournament which was won by Donald Bailey. As Donald was travelling through the USA, the Challenge Match was arranged to cooincide with his visit. It was played in Richard Ronglie's home, Virginia, USA.

Donald Bailey won the match 6-4 to regain the world title.
